Reserch Group on Inflammatory Mechanisms of Vascular Damage
Main research lines
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of mortality in the world and encompasses a set of disorders that affect the heart and blood vessels. Our research group focuses on the study of inflammatory and anti-inflammatory mechanisms responsible for vascular and cardiac alterations associated with pathologies such as hypertension, aneurysms and obesity.

Inflammation and cardiovascular disease
We seek to evaluate the role of inflammatory mediators, such as prostanoids, reactive oxygen species and various cytokines such as interferon stimulated gene 15, in the development of cardiovascular damage.
Resolution of inflammation and cardiovascular disease
We want to elucidate the role of some anti-inflammatory mechanisms such pro-resolving lipid mediators in cardiovascular disorders.
