Projects & Networks

Our research focuses in the role of inflammatory and anti-inflammatory mediators in cardiovascular damage associated with hypertension, obesity and aneurysms.

Projects & Network: Proyectos

Mediators and molecular mechanisms of aortic and valve pathologies. PI: Mercedes Salaices (UAM), Juan Miguel Redondo (General Coordinator).

AORTASANA is a program financed by the R&D Program in biomedicine of the Community of Madrid.

The Project includes three basic research groups and two clinical ones. The objective is to investigate, in mouse models and in patients, the pathophysiological mechanisms responsible for aortic diseases without pharmacological treatment, with the ultimate aim of developing treatments for these conditions.

Spanish Society of Arteriosclerosis, SEA -  Basic Research grant in arteriosclerosis and its risk factors

Papel del gen 15 estimulado por interferon (ISG15) en el remodelado vascular patológico. PI: Ana Briones.

A MINDSHIFT ITN aims at training a new generation of young researchers in understanding the dynamic interactions between vascular and endocrine pathways in hypertension and boost European innovation in future health science and industry towards more effective prevention of and cure for hypertension. MINDSHIFT brings together six university partners from across Europe to recruit a group of 15 of the best early stage researchers.PI: Ana Mª Briones (UAM). General Coordinator: Thomas Unger (University of Maastricht).

CIBER Cardiovascular (CB16/11/00286). PI: Mercedes Salaices Sánchez. Funding agency: Instituto de Salud Carlos III. Duration: 2017-present.

MINECO

Deciphering the role of novel inflammatory mediators derived from interferon and the inefficient resolution of inflammation in the cardiovascular damage associated to hypertension. PI: Ana Mª Briones.
